Samsung NX10 Review

Samsung seems to put their hands on the camera market deeper and deeper. As we see their dual screen ST550 or the one with a GPS, HZ35w, they now release Samsung NX10, the interchangeable lens camera that claimed to adopt a hybrid camera system, where they shoot as good as a DSLR camera but didn’t left the compact element from a point and shoot camera. This NX10 also boast their mirrorless camera system that made their body slimmer than several of its competitor in the Micro Four third camera class.
Samsung NX10 specification key feature consists of a 14.6 effective megapixels coming from its 15.1 APS-C CMOS Sensor, their contrast detect autofocus system, 3.0 inch AMOLED screen (614 kilodots), a 921k dot electronic viewfinder and NX10 HD video recording capability (720p in H.264 format at 30fps). This Samsung mirrorless system incorporates a 30mm F2 pancake and 18-55 zoom capability. Samsung claimed that NX10 is developed fully in-house, as we can see that their experience in the solid-state electronics that gave bore into this small body of NX10
Samsung NX10 body design may seems pretty old and dissapointing, but it does gave us a solid and sturdy feel when we touch it. NX10’s 123×87×39.8mm (excluding the projecting parts of the camera) dimension really give us some space when we needed a reliable camera. The grip will feels good in our arms too, as well as its intuitive controls. Other than its old design, I can say that there is not much to complaint.
Samsung NX10 shot to shot speed is considerably fast in the JPEG modes, but you might feel it lagged when you tap into their NX10 RAW shooting modes. This Samsung mirrorless camera’s autofocus capability is also fairly fast. And what’s important in a camera, NX10 image quality is good, even their highest ISO setting still gives an image quality that goes on par with its competitor.
Unfortunately, if you use Auto ISO modes, the image produces by NX10 won’t be too good. Their Noise reduction were quite ‘destructive’ to your images in JPEGs and its one of Samsung NX10 weakness.
To conclude in this Samsung NX10 hands on review, it is a quite high quality camera for it’s price, with good image quality even in some points, NX10 lacks several features owned by other DSLR. NX10 battery life is quite good also. For a $699 compact camera size with interchangeable feature, NX10 can be quite the hero in its class.
