March 1st, 2010 | by CameraBang |

2010 seems to be a year full of long zoom camera products. Especially with the addition of Pentax X90, a 12.1 megapixels CCD sensor camera with high zoom feature like those featured on the latest Nikon long zoom compacts.

Pentax X90 Specification Review

We’ve covered Nikon P100 with 26x Optical Zoom, and now, Pentax released their own high zooms with their Pentax X90 that sports the same 26x zooming capability with their 26-676mm equivalent lens. And more good news is coming for X90 since Pentax also features a 1cm macro mode to produce up close photos for macro photography enthusiast.

Compared to the previous Pentax X70, the X90 upgrades will only seen on their mega zoom and macro features. The 12 megapixels CCD sensors applied in X90 is still the same as X70. However, Pentax gave a boost into X90’s battery lifetime that increase nearly 50% compared to X70.

The other interesting X90 feature is their HD video recording ability at 720p resolution with 30 frames per second, plus Pentax’s Movie Shake Reduction software that made the video result much better. You can preview all the photos and videos made by this Pentax 12 megapixels camera through their 2.7 inch Preview screen and electronic viewfinder. In burst mode, Pentax X90 can shoot as fast as 11 frames per second that would be delightful who likes sport or action photography.

Pentax X90 Price and Release Date

We competition aura in high zoom camera market seems like getting pretty hot from the camera manufacturers because last year, CanonSX20 have taken many eyes due too their superb zooming features. Pentax X90 release date is in the end of March, so you have to be patient to buy it with X90 price would be around $450.
