Panasonic DMC-TZ4 8.1 megapixel long zoom camera

This 8.1 megapixel camera is a newer model of the previous Panasonic DMC-TZ3. The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 brought several features improvement compared to TZ3 while loosing few aspects too. For example, personally, I think that TZ3 have better body design than TZ4 :D Well… We’d better dig more info about this powerhouse compact digital camera ;)

TZ4 Opticals
As stated before, Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 features a 8.1 megapixel CCD sensor. However, TZ4’s CCD sensor size was only 1/2.5″ while TZ3 gives you 1/2.35″ size. That makes this camera not so special than other compact camera in the sensor size department. We can be happy that TZ4 still have the long 10x Optical Zoom in it. Long zoom is what people loves from Panasonic TZ camera series :D
Panasonic also incorporate Mega O.I.S (Optical Image Stabilizzation) system in the TZ4’s optical. Gyrosensors in the Mega O.I.S will detect handshake and have the lens system compensate it with a shift to help prevent blurry image due to hand-shake.

TZ4 Intelligent Features and Image Processing
Panasonic adds Intelligent Exposure and Digital Red-Eye Correction in TZ4. These two features will work to produce clear photos automatically. More feature like Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection also incorporated in this camera to make your photo taking experience more enjoyable.
Intelligent Exposure will have TZ4 analyzes framed images and work in the scene parts that were dark due to dim lighting, backlighting or the flash usage. This system will adjust brightness setting to avoid an under or over exposed areas in the photos.
The Digital Red Eye Reduction is incorporated in the built-in flash to eliminate the red eye problems that was common in night scene shots. The camera will first emits a small preliminary flash before the main flash, detect the red-eye and apply a digital correction on the photos.
Intelligent ISO system will detect object’s movement and compensate it with ISO settings and shutter speed to avoid blur images.
TZ4 also have Intelligent Scene Selector that will help TZ4 user to maximize the scene settings automatically. Because this system will do the decision making job to determine the scene settings.
Face Detection is quite a buzz in nowadays camera, it adjust focus and exposure settings to optimize the face area taken with this camera. Panasonic also have it in TZ4. With Face Detection feature, this camera could detect up to 15 faces in the frame, and it would still tract those faces even if the objects moved. You won’t need to worry about shadows in the faces anymore. Pretty cool huh :D
The image processor engine in TZ4 digital camera has been improved to Venus Engine IV. Venus Engine IV promised better noise reduction, better detection accuracy, shorter shutter release time lag, and better corrective effects in both Mega O.I.S & Intelligent ISO than Venus Engine III in TZ3. All this leads to a higher quality production.
This camera also eliminates the hassle of pushing the shutter button halfway to get the lens autofocused. With Continuous AF, the system will maintain focus in the subject without a halfway press in the shutter button, thus minimizing the AF time.

TZ4 More Features
TZ4 only provides 2.5″ LCD preview screen. It’s a drawback actually since TZ3 gives us 3″. The LCD was incorporated with Intelligent LCD systems that adjust LCD brightness by detecting the surrounding light condition. This system will ensure that you have a proper display in any shooting environment.
For Video Recording, this compact camera can record in 1920 x 1080 high definition (HD) quality resolution. This camera also has a newly added HD component output capability that could connect TZ4 to your favorite HDTV to watch a slideshow. A few background music also provided by TZ4.
For expandable slot, Lumix TZ4 provides SD/SDHC/MMC expansion slot.

In conclusion, this long zoom compact camera has the potential to be a powerhouse compact camera. TZ4 have rich feature to make our photo experience a better one.
