Canon Powershot SD980 IS Review – 12 Megapixel Touch Screen Camera

Canon PowerShot SD980 IS came as the first Canon camera with a touch screen LCD. This 12.1 megapixel Digital Elph camera sports a 5x Optical zoom with ultrawide lens (24mm). It also featured several premium technology like Optical Image Stabilization, DIGIC 4 image processor, Face Detection plus Self Timer, Blink detection and many more. The build looks more stylish than Canon SD780, and I love it.
The Touch Screen in Canon SD980 seems to attract many attention, giving you a new experience in this Canon camera control since not only you can adjust your shooting modes and other settings, you can also choose your AutoFocus point with one touch on the screen. Pretty exciting I guess. SD980 also support shake control, like when you playback your shots, you can browse the file by shaking and tilting your Digital Elph. But, I really don’t wanna shake this precious (if expensive is not suitable) Powershot SD980.
Ok, let’s get more details on this Canon SD980 review, the ultra wide angle in this SD980 was quite useful in everyday photography, especially when you take photos of a crowd objects. This Canon camera also delivers a good sharpness quality, thank you to the DIGIC 4 engine that made the colors wonderful. The ISO levels offered by PowerShot SD980 is up to 3200, but in this camera was not suited to low light photography and the noise will ruin your shots, you should try another camera with a better noise reduction capability.
Canon SD980 can record HD video up to 720p resolution. You can zoom in and out when you’re in video recording mode, but you better watch out with the zoom motor sound that may recorded into your video. A HDMI port was provided in Powershot SD980, so you can playback you shots or videos on your HDTV easily. To conclude, this Canon Powershot is suitable for everyday photography that rarely shoot in minimum condition such as low light scene and good macro shooting. Other than that, I can say that this camera is a good one.
