Canon Powershot G9 - Powerhouse 12 Megapixel Compact Camera

Up until now, this Canon Powershot G9 was the reason why I would crave Canon compact camera lines. Well, we could expect an improvement from other camera manufacturers and it should be, remembering this camera would have become “last year camera” in the next three months.

Canon G9 doesn’t endeavor us with futuristic chasing models, but let’s not be conceived by its exteriors, this Canon camera holds many powerful features. Canon G9 features a 12.1 megapixel CCD with 6x optical zoom plus Optical Image Stabilizer technology. All this will gives us a rich and deep image details to work with. And the optical image stabilization process would still work through any optical zoom range to keeps the image steady and blur free. The Optical Image Stabilizer will detects motion and generate a corrective signal, and since this process was going on the optical level, you could expect a no degradation in image quality when using this feature.

Powered by a DIGIC III image processor, you could expect an energy-wise camera that produces true-to-life pictures. G9 has already have Face Detection Technology and Red Eye Correction.
The Face Detection Technology will pinpoint the faces in your scene and set the ideal focus points, exposure and flash setting to make sure that every faces would looked bright and natural. A new Face Selector AF also enables to lock on and track a specific face, even when they move on the frame. This camera was pretty cool
For low light scene, G9 provided ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto Settings to reduce camera shake effect and sharpen your subject when you’re taking a shot in a low light condition. To remove red eye on your images, you could use G9’s Red Eye Correction during playbacks.

Canon G series camera fans very happily welcomes the return of RAW format in Canon G9. Powershot G9 RAWs feature will deliver you images without any JPEG compression, and it means clearer images plus enabling its user to be creative with their images. Canon G9 was able to record the images in both RAW and JPEG images simultaneously while shooting too, giving you the flexibility on tweaking your images and share it with other in smaller bytes on the same time.

More interesting feature this camera has is its compatibility with many shooting accessories.
