When you look into Canon IXUS 120 IS, I guess it’s normal to say that it is a ’stupid blond’ camera that rely more on fashion aspect that functionality. But let me tell you one thing, you’re wrong! IXUS 120 is one smart sexy point and shoot camera.

Behind the slim and beautiful body of IXUS 120, this 12 megapixel Canon camera bears a series of advanced Canon technologies like the DIGIC 4 processor, advanced Face Detection and Optical Image Stabilization. With all that, no wonder that the 5mm wide angle (28mm) lens of IXUS 120 can take photos with impressive quality. Canon IXUS 120 share many similarity with its predecessor, the IXUS 100 IS. But don’t you love the IXUS 100’s performance, since it was a good camera too. Than there’ll be no problems if Canon improves it a bit and give bore to the 120 IS don’t you think.
The slim bodies have the dimension of 89.5 x 54.9 x 20.0 mm, and would fit into your pocket easily. The design was very stylish too, that you might add it as a decoration of your desk. Ok, maybe not since its price is too high for a desk decoration
IXUS 120’s 4x Optical Zoom is enough for casual photographers, eventhough with the same price, you can buy Canon SX20 IS soon that have longer zoom capability. Unfortunately the zoom button were too tiny for my big hands, I find it difficult sometime zoom in and out due to the size of my thumbs.
This Canon IXUS can really produces good colour accuracy and sharpness on your photos, all thanks to the DIGIC 4 processor. And as a fashion camera that rarely provides much manual settings, IXUS 120 only allow basic settings such as white balance, exposure, light metering and ISO. The scene modes were quite useful too. And there is modes that lets you make a B&W photos, plus another one color. Oh, I’ll love to take a glass of champagne photos with this art modes. This Canon camera have ISO levels as high as 1600, however, the noise become prominent in ISO 800. It’s not a camera suited for low light I suppose.
One more good thing with this stylish IXUS 120 is HD video recording capability. It can record in 720p resolution at 30fps. Canon have put a mini-HDMI output too to let you watch your HD videos on in your HD compatible TV directly from the Canon IXUS 120.
